So, the kids have been trying to help out in the garden this year and they have a lot of fun watching things grow. However, all the stuff I read about how if your kids help you cook and grow food they're more likely to eat it. Total lie. Unless you deep fat fry the zucchini and let them dip it in ketchup....
Anyhow, last Saturday the kids thought they'd like to set up a vegetable stand. Unfortunately it was 9 a.m. and there wasn't a lot of traffic. Our neighbor Roger was their only customer. They sure looked cute selling their stuff though! :)

It is too bad we didn't drive by- I would have bought all your tomatoes! :)
They look very adorable waiting for someone to stop.
Thank you for the yummy tomatoes- they were very delicious!
That is SO cute!
Flying into Boise a week from Saturday... woo hoo!
Wish I would have been able to come over. Tell them that the next time I come over I'll buy some of whatever is left if they'll still sell it to me!
Hey! Tell those kids to call me next time. I would love to take some of the vegetables off their hands. Seriously.
Marissa, this post made me laugh so hard! I totally remember thinking that a lemonade stand would be the start of my fortunes. I spent all day making this dorkly looking sign and then NO ONE bought my lemonade. Perhaps it was because we lived in a cul-de-sac and had no neighbors, but whatever. :)
what a cute idea. too bad I was still in my jammies (and possibly asleep?) at 9 a.m. lol
You made that look so cute Marisa. I'm always impressed with your artistic skills.
The kids look so cute on their first day of school. I can't believe Audrey and Annie are both in Kindergarten.
I miss you!
Marisa,
Thanks for the comment!
We're doing well, just super busy. I haven't had time to put up a real post in forever. I used to post in the middle of the night, but now I work in the middle of the night! *sigh*
Hope you guys are doing well. The kids look cute and I can't wait to hear about their school adventures!
So let's talk Halloween parties, because I'm a Halloween gal, you know. Are you interested in games, decorating, or something else? And are you definitely looking for something to stay within your theme? Or just any games/activities/food/entertainment/decorating? I'll try to find as much as I can, but let me know what you want. What have you dont in year's pas? I'm debating between hosting a Halloween party and a murder myster. So far the Halloween party is winning in my head because I can do the murder mystery any time.
Sorry for that novel that I just wrote. I obviously get carried away with Halloween.
So let's talk Halloween parties. I am not good at coming up with ideas on my own, but I do love your superhero theme. Since I couldn't find much help on the great old Internet, here are my ideas. Feel free to tell me that any of them are just too lame. :)
I think it would be a riot to have some sort of trivia game (a la jeopardy) where you asked questions about the superheroes like what is Wonder Woman's real name, who plays Spiderman's love interest in the 2002 movie, what planet is Superman from, what his parent's names were, etc. The questions could fall into different categories like "Villains they fought" or "Girl Power" and the questions could get progressively more difficult.
Then you could even show some of the old superhero cartoons that we all watched on Saturday mornings growing up - you know, The Justice League ones?
You could also play snippets of each superhero's theme song and have a name-that-tune contest. Where did you find the superhero stickers? They sound cool.
You could have a pumpkin carving superhero contest where everyone's pumpkin should look like some sort of superhero or they could carve superman's "s" in the pumpkin or something.
At this point, I'm sure you are tired of reading this longest comment ever!!
Good luck and take pictures. I'm dying to see how it all turns out.
Your kids are so cute sitting at that veggie stand. Your garden sounds amazing. We have tried for years with no luck. We have to many trees in our yard.
